You don't need more equipment, you do need DNS(distance network service) from DTV. Contact them, you will need to fill out some paperwork.

It's not quite as simple as the previous post implies. DNS service will cost you $15/month but, more importantly, if you want locals service at your home and DNS in your RV you may be told you need separate accounts for the two locations. Some people have gotten around this, but that's the usual DTV position.

I have had DirecTV since 1996 but don't worry about my locals. I use the over the air antenna where ever I'm at as I want to know the local information where I'm at. I really don't care what is happening in Michigan if I'm at Myrtle Beach. Its actually easier for me to go to my hometown newspaper website to keep up on back home. Are you really asking about the networks --NBC--CBS--etc? Only just a few times that I missed out on something I wanted to watch on network television due to no station or signal in the area. Randu

We are fulltiming now and lots of times we do get local channels via antenna but not always. I will check dns but if I remember correctly it was not a straight forward deal.

We looked into DNS (east coast or west coast affiliate feeds) and found that it's $15.00 per month plus additional package, or about $100 more dollars a month. That was too rich for us when we had our stick house. Now that we full time, we found we don't need them. We are usually near a metro area and get digital "over air" channels with a Winegard converter box for our old analog TV's. If you are going to boondock you might find the local channels via DirecTV useful. We haven't so far. The DNS rule is FCC regulated, not a Directv policy.

I have a Kingdome on my coach and I have being using Dish for ten years, but now I switched to Direct. Besides changing out the receiver/dvr do I have to do any thing else to get the satellite. Do I have to change out the box that locates the satellite. And how about the dome. Do I have to change like LNB's on it. I hooked up the receiver but all I get on the screen is the Direct logo and it says searching for satellite. Yet I see that it is locked into some satellite. This is not like Dish where if you press the menu button it will tell you what satellite you are locked into. Or am I missing something? The Direct Tech told me they do not work on coaches. He just handed me a receiver and told me to hook it up.

One big advantage for using DNS is if you have a DVR and you have several programs you record each week. With DNS your channel numbers don't change as you travel. You set your programs and then just setup your antenna at your new location and your programs will still record.

It is a very straight forward deal. It's $15/month, you can have either "local" Networks or DNS Networks on your account but not both and you fill out this form and send it in.

I just deal with it when outside the spot beam and augment with campground cable, or antenna if I want network stations.
