Directv swm 840 kit

I'm trying to get my H-25 receiver to work with an older gm 1518 carryout by using a swm 840 kit. Does anyone know if the 21 volt power inserter will work with this system or will you need a 29 volt power inserter? Thanks
  • Thanks I haven't tried it yet as I'm waiting on the 840 switch to arrive, I have a 21 volt inserter, but have seen info that a 29 volt maybe needed want to get one on the way if necessary.
  • Ok thanks better get one on order because without tv this time of year college football, baseball play offs there be little camping.
  • Yep, I can't seem to find a channel tonight NOT broadcasting College Ball. Even if it did work sometimes, it will not work properly all of the time without the PI29.
  • Just ordered one not sure this is going to work but the swm 840 switch for 30.and the power inserter for 5.95 its worth a shot.
  • You should not have any problems getting the Carryout to work with the SWM 8 setup. Connect the switch at the dome with a couple of short coax pieces and run 1 coax to the coach. The PI goes inside behind the receiver. Be sure to cap any unused ports with terminator caps (the ones with a center wire).
  • Thanks, that's how I plan to wire it. Just hope to get a little more life out of the carryout. When/if I go to another RV I've started to look at the SKSWM-3 traveler that works with directv and a kit can be used to allow it to be changed to dish. I like to have a option should one provider gets out of control. I did also order the terminator caps.
