Directv upgrade to HD

We have a ten year old KVH dome and old receivers. We now have HD RV's and want to get a new Traveler dish and new HD receivers. What a pain. Found out that camping world only installs the dish and can't provide the receivers. Guess we have to get DTV to mail us the new equipment then we can go get the dish installed. Does anyone know if the Genie is compatible with a new Traveler dish?

DirecTV does not sell receivers, they lease them.
Good point. Even if you think that you are buying them from a vendor you are not and they remain the property of DTV.

When I transitioned from the HR24 to HR44 I arranged for a month overlap so that I could verify the SWM operation. I could not resist buying a $3 SWM splitter and run both receivers. It was interesting to have 7 channel concurrent operation. ie DTV SWM supports 8 channels. DTV send me a pre paid box to return the HR24.

DirecHDTV is not compatible with any dome.. DirecTV is. (Very well)

Dish network works with domes provided you have a single receiver both HD and SD, multiple receivers or dual channel DVR's need at least 2 domes or one dish to work properly.

DirecTV does not sell receivers, they lease them.. Dish does sell.

Thanks for the info! I know the front tv has hdmi but not sure about the bedroom one. Hard to get it out of cabinet to reach the back. It's about 7 years old. Anyone know if they were putting hdmi connections back then.
2006 was a crossover year so it could have gone either way. Ours had an LCD TV, but it wasn't even digital, so out she came...

HDMI was supported back then. The Genie Client supports HDMI and component and composite connections.

The Winegard Trav'ler is the only antenna that gets Directv HD. I installed the Trav'ler myself and it was pretty easy to do. I use the Genie system from my house with wireless mini-Genies at each TV. Great system. Uses HDMI, not coax. Each TV can have a different show on.
RF Mogul is equally as good. Once the dish supports SWM the remaining equipment is the same.

Recommend a SWM dish which Traveler has. I went with RF Mogul from Advanced Satellite in Junction City, OR and they can supply everything, but check. Now have a DTV HR44 receiver mounted vertically in the back of a cabinet because it's RF.

We move the HR44 from house to RV including all of the programming and recorded shows. We don't have any Genie Clients but it would be trivial with the single coax or wireless.
