Dish Network for just the RV

Due to the recent dispute between Fox and Dish I may have to switch to Direct for the house. But, I have a Dish Tailgator for the RV which I will keep for now. I was wondering who had Dish for just the RV and what kind of fees you might pay for that service?
  • Well, I think it was your email in combination to the two I sent to them!!! X2 on waiting for the rate increase.
  • Yeah! It must have been the email I sent Dish that did it! LOL.... It's a real benifit for me to have dish because I just take the 211k out of my house and take it in the RV no extra billing programming stays the same. I don't even have to call Dish if I don't want locals. Glad they got it settled now I will just wait for the rate increase notice!

x2, fox is back on dish.
    Patience grasshopper!
  • The previous owner of our house had Direct TV and we just took down the dish and installed an antenna in it's place. Didn't have to rewire anything.

I think the cheapest pay as go plan is about 50 bucks a month.

We still have an antenna in the house and DirecTV but we have Dish in the TT. To get much of anything on Dish it will cost $40 or $50 a month. With the antenna and a smart TV with Amazon prime we are also thinking of getting rid of DirecTV

Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix, etc are great for a house with a wired broadband connection, but not so for RVs where you'd typically have to rely on a metered (limited data) wireless broadband connection.

  • The contract on our DISH expires this June. My wife wants to cancel completely and just go to over-the-air television. But for the camper, she wants to keep the tailgater and DISH set up. She says we can always hook up the Tailgater to the television in the house. So, she's been using HULU and Netflex more and more, since our television in the house has internet capability. I'm still not sure I'm happy with her decision, but it sure would be less costly. Interesting to find you can pay 22.62 a month. Of course our entire house is wired JUST for Dish, so all that coax cable I've run (and I'm talking miles of the stuff!) will have to be disconnected at the main junction for each room, and I'll have to figure out how to run it all through an outside antenna at the house now! She's determined.

You know, you pay a fortune for paid television, and for every minute of programing, there is 5 minutes of commercial! This really stinks, I have to agree. And the movie channels, well.... there's just nothing worth watching, as we've already seen it all! Why pay for a premium channel if you've already seen it! I see her point, I'm just thinking of all THAT work I did on the cabling in the house!
  • I have tailgater for Dish and pay 22.62 per month. Just as basic as I could get for channels though!
