Dish Tailgater

I am needing some help with our new Dish Tailgater. Our Coachman Catalina has an outside cable jack on it. I am having a hard time being able to run the coax cable into this cable jack from the tailgater and getting it to work inside. Is this something that is possible or do I need to run it in through a window or door?
  • I use the cable inlet for my tailgater and it works fine. Cable inlet on mine goes to a separate jack near the main TV.

Park cable inlet goes to the ant/cable switch, it is NOT compatable with Sat TV in that configuration.

Winegard says to remove it from the switch.. But since most makers use lowest bidder RG-58 I recommend installing a dedicated QUALITY RG-6 Cable for the sat LNB.

IF your sat receiver has coax out.. You can feed that back to the park cable, if you wish.. Works well, If it only has HDMI. leave that port as it is because... Well.. Some parks, cable is included (Where I'm parked)
  • What the two post above said, that will fix you up.

  • A cable connection is for exactly what it's labeled. Cable, park Cable, not satellite.
As mentioned above, the cable line goes somewhere but not anywhere that is, by default, useable for satellite. It all depends upon the way the manufacturer setup the coach. If there are ANY splitters in the coach for the cable to run to various locations you will likely never be able to use this connection. If the incoming cable line runs directly to a Video Control Center or directly to a wall plate where there is an off/on button/slide then there is a possibility that you could modify this connection to work with satellite. It's best to check with the manufacturer but if you post in a forum specific to your coach you will also likely get the information you need.
  • On mine, the external coax for park cable came into a two coax connector wall plate beneath the TV with a short jumper between the two coax connectors. That brought the external signal into the wall plate and the jumper redirected it to the TV amplifier/switch box. I could remove the jumper and connect a coax cable from one of the coax connectors on the wall plate to the sat receiver box. And the Tailgater and sat receiver box worked fine. I later added a second external coax connector specifically for the sat box.

So, if you have a wall plate with two coax connectors on it and a short coax jumper between the two, you may be able to remove the jumper and attach a new coax cable from one of the coax connectors on the wall plate to the receiver box. If it does not work from the first, try the second.
  • I run my wire through the slide there's enough play in the seals that it doesn't crimp the wire.
  • If the port on the camper is labeled "Cable" then it likely goes into your antenna jack and is fed through a splitter... The satellite will not work through one of these jacks. It has to be a straight through cable without a splitter.
