Dish wiring

Getting ready to buy and install Dish tailgator

I understand about running the coax from dish to receiver.

Here is my question……if I run the coax from the dish to a newly installed outside wall coaxial feed, then on inside of coach wall coax to receiver will that weaken the signal?

Some will run the coax thru slide directly to receiver but I don’t like that idea, or the way it looks

Thx Rod

NO! Don't listen to any answers to the contrary.

Will it weaken the signal? Not so you will ever notice.

in fact that's how I suggest you do it RG-6 (i think) is the cable recommended.

There is another way many do it.. That DOES weaken the signal. you are doing it right.

one suggestion UNPLUG the receiver before disconnecting cable from antenna and RV and don't plug it in till you are all cabled up.. Receiver powers the antenna via the coax and if you mess up and short the center wire to nut. it can poppa a circuit (Let the magic smoke out, and without the magic smoke, it no work no more)
  • We added a fitting inside of the refrigerator area, ran a short wire from that and zip tied it to the outside fridge access door. We set our Dish Playmaker out run the cable from that to our cable at the fridge access door with a barrel connector. Inside the camper we run a cable from that newly installed connector plate to the Dish receiver. At that point my wife is a happy camper.

There is no noticeable loss of signal. There are lots of places the cable plate can be mounted. Pick one and don't look back.
  • I installed a new coax fitting in my outside wall near the location of my Dish receiver. There was a small removable side panel in the inside cabinet giving access to that outside wall making it very easy for me. Installed a thru the wall coax connector plate in that panel connecting it to the new outside connector with a short coax cable. And another short coax from the wall panel to the receiver. Worked great with my Tailgator.
  • I recently also installed an exterior Sat connection. I had an OEM one on the rear left and now I have one on the front right. I ran some RG6 under the coroplast up to the entertainment cent so I have a direct feed to the outside Sat port. I didn't want to tie into any splitters so I have two separate Sat connections at the entertainment center.
