Ditto. The only Mac I have that will run Yosemite build is my MacBook. All of my other Macs are vintage, some over thirteen years old. Yet they all run SOME version of Mac OS X. The same can't be said for Windows boxes. And yes, my MacBook also runs Windows and Mac OS X simultaneously, so for the very few processes that i can't do with Max OS X, I can do on Windows.
Not using RM, but I am using an older MacMini w/OS X 10.6 and Garmin. Went to update it a couple weeks ago and got a message saying that the updater would no longer support 10.6. Needed to upgrade to Lion 10.7. Cost me $20.
Had to wait 2 days for the download link to my email. Installed flawlessly. Everything backed up and restored perfectly. Even reopened the browser to the same pages I had open previously. GPS updates now, no problem
My bet is that the OP is experiencing a problem with the adapter between the GPS unit and the laptop. Some serial to USB adapters are a bit wanky. - joeshmoeExplorerNot using RM, but I am using an older MacMini w/OS X 10.6 and Garmin. Did you check the RM site for help?- YES; I'm in contact with RM technical support, and they have elevated the issue to their developmental team, but so far they don't have an answer.
Have you been able to update before or is this the first time? This is the first time on my Macbook; however, I have updated the SDHC on my Windows PC.
If the first time, does your Mac Book MEET ALL the requirements? YES- and RM Tech support confirmed.
Sounds like a problem between the Mac Book and RM with drivers and or software compatibility..
For that reason I stay with Windows PC so I run into less hassles with hardware/drivers/software..
Hope RM can come up with a fix for you! - marc515ExplorerDid you check the RM site for help?- YES; I'm in contact with RM technical support, and they have elevated the issue to their developmental team, but so far they don't have an answer.

Do any of you guys use a MacBook or Mac to update your On Board Rand McNally GPS?
I cannot get my MB to open the RM Dock, or read the SD card.
