Evolving USB power

I found that this 12 volt device also works great, providing up to 2 amps total and 4 ports!

This is a portable battery powered USB charger. It will hold 4 batteries, 3.7V each and up to 9800 mA hour rating per battery, so it will be a 19 AH battery pack.

You will also need to order batteries and a charger to go with that battery pack.





If you buy a battery pack, you might also want to buy a LED flashlight that uses the same battery, it will come with the charger that you will need anyway, and then order an extra 4 batteries. The batter pack will recharge any cell phone (with USB charger input) several times between recharging the 18650 batteries. 18650 battery is availible in several capacities, from 2000 mA to 4,000 to 9,800 that I bought a few days ago.

A device capable of charging 2 2.1 amp devices at the full rate at the same time is more impressive instead of a device where only one port can output that much. My contempt for Ciggy plugs/receptacles is also a factor.

I fear the multicell 18650 battery packs. One could put 4 cells of all different voltages/states of charge in there and have themselves a Venting with flame, lithium toxic moment. A true trustfire moment.

I'd hope it utilizes some protection features which would remove 18650 batteries from the circuit if they were not in line voltage wise with the others.

It can only support 1 amp briefly before dropping to 0.88a max, but it can also charge the battery too and stops at 4.18 to 4.20 volts, as it should.

I use old cells harvested from laptop batteries in them, but the higher capacity panasonic NCR18650b cells I bought at ~ 12$ apiece, work much better for longer.

Any single 18650 cell which currently claims to have more than 3600mAH capacity, is smoking crack. 9000mAH? Come on. If that were possible, Teslas would have nearly triple their range.

This battery is 'claiming' 9800 mA capacity, I know that is not true, but will have a chance to check it out soon.

Oooooo micro 10,000 lumen LED Lamp syndrome again.

I do not know USB chargers versus their lithium chemistry counterparts very well. My cluck-cluck-cluck nature would encourage me to mother hen assurance my way through a few charging cycles to permit my fingers to inform my brain whether the batteries may be getting too hot. If it means sliding the battery cover off to do this, so be it.

My ipad draws over 2a, and the iphone at least 1.5 depending on how hungry it is. I have swapped all my 12v USB to a dual 2.1 EACH OUT device. It does what it says and I dont have to play the Right Stuff current game with it trying to keep a regulator from crowbarring.

For the 115v stuff I have dual 2.4A EACH OUT made by iClever that run close to cold loaded with dead Apple devices. One of those replaces a certified Apple charger that overheated and melted the carpet.

Bought a 12000ma pack off ebay that I use in the air but havent looked at how much I can shove into it yet. I can run the ipad all the way across the country.

You are mistaken, When running Google Maps in Navigation mode the S-IV can indeed draw more than one amp.

Mine is the S4 Mini, significantly smaller battery, but I've never tried to use the Navigation, but I do have a USB power meter and have never seen it draw more than 0.98 amps.
