YUP... that's what we try to do because we depend on help with these kinds of issues. Not everyone can become tech savvy as fast as this stuff changes ... especially if we start of non-tech savvy to begin with. We'd have to learn all the obsolete stuff as well as the new stuff that replaces it -- pretty near impossible.

Most of the time, we're pretty satisfied with how the laptop runs - but then, someone in the tech world makes a change, which forces us to make a change we'd rather not make. And that's when the 'fun' starts.

As an example: The issue with Wdw8 -- and not only us tech-stupids either, as MS is releasing another OS because Wdw8 WAS/IS such a mess for a lot of folks.

We spent quite a few buck returning to the Wdw7 systems on three computers, and are very happy with the results - our electronics systems work fine again ... and that's the real issue. It's obviously (with us at least) not about saving a few bucks, it's getting the system to operate as we want it to operate.

We expect sometime in the future, we'll have to adjust again to another system, but for now, we're pleased we got this done and are back on track. RV.net is always a great help - everyone contributes a variety of knowledge to assist other RV.net members with issues ... a great forum.

Your habit of updating at public sites (i.e. Library) to save money is just asking for trouble. Especially for someone like you who always posting with your latest problem or perceived complaint. Dependent your installed security some systems may be more vulnerable to attack while downloading updates.

Actually, they do have a point. You can turn off update notifications. But should not put off upgrading too long. In fact, among the two most patched programs in 2013 for vulnerabilities were reportedly Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

I am running FIREFOX Version 27.0.1 here... I guess a newer version must be out now...
