Ft Pierce area TV reception

Nope, no problem. You need the antenna plus a solo node splitter.

At the house I just have a hopper and a joey. Any problem just taking the hopper along and hooking it up to a manual 1000.2 dish?

If you have service at home, just take a receiver out of the house, put it in the RV and connect it to a portable antenna (manual or automatic). Done!

check around yard sales and such, you can usually find a no-longer-needed dish pretty cheap. A good stable base can be made for less than $10, and will work as good or better than the $500+ carry-outs. If you were close, you could come by my place and I would give you one.

From what I could tell on antennaweb and a couple other sites I would be able to get ABC for sure but NBC CBS FOX would be pretty iffy. I had thought the TIVO would be a good solution since I'm planning on "cutting the cord" with DISH next year and this would be a good test but if reception is that bad it wouldn't be much of a test. Since I'm currently a DISH subscriber with another year on my contract I think instead of OTA right now I may buy a cheap dish and receiver and get my programming I already pay for at home. The only issue would be locals but I may be able to get that switched to the new location for the winter from what I've read.

If I wasn't sure about it, I would have cancelled my order and waited until I got there to see what kind of signals I received. Might be OK for some, and bad for others. I replaced my antenna a few years ago, and the difference was amazing.

The OTA coverage is from West Palm Beach (WPTV NBC 5, WPEC CBS 12, WPBF ABC 25, WFLX FOX 29, WTVX CW 34, & WXEL PBS 43).

WPBF ABC 25, WTVX CW 34, and an independent station have their transmitters close enough to Fort Pierce to come in, no matter which direction you point.

The other four major stations all have their transmitters in the same area in Palm Beach County, so if you aim the antenna to maximize their signals, you should be able to get all of the OTA networks.

When we stayed a little further south at Hobe Sound (Jonathan Dickinson State Park), we could get all of the OTA stations without even raising our Sensar antenna. (That was a good thing, because we COULDN'T raise our Sensar antenna at the time!)

Of course, the tradeoff against Comcast cable is whether you want the other satellite channels. If you have Dish or Direct, that's a moot point, unless it's rainy season!

We just spent a few days slightly west of there. If you can't get all the major OTA networks on the east coast of Fl you need a new antenna.

We wintered on our boat on the island just over the bridge east of Ft Pierce and the OTA brought in a couple of networks and a PBS station as I recall. Thanks to digital they were clear but it was a limited selection.

The cable company at Treasure Coast RV Park, in Ft. Pierce is Comcast. I know they had a "Snow Bird" special for winter only customers, some other folks had it at the park. Call Comcast and ask if it's still available.
