Functionality of HD Receiver with Genie

I have a Genie Client in my den and my wife hates it now that they have reprogrammed the genie so that you can't see the "date recorded" when you bring up your "list". I called ditectv to find out if we are doing something wrong. After 45 minutes I got an Att tech in India, or somewhere. She didn't understand me and I didn't understand her. After 15 more frustrating minutes she transferred me again. Another 15 minute wait I finally got an a guy in the US. He punched my TS card and said I could get a HD receiver for $99. I opted, instead, to buy one on Ebay for a fraction.

I know I can access recorded programs on my Genie but I happened to think, after the fact, that I may not have the pause, back up and resume functions even though it will be on the Genie network.

Will these functions work with the receiver?

Does anyone have a Genie with a standard HD receiver as part of the network?

I don't like change!

Agreed. I don't like to have to learn a new system, especially when I have yet to see any reason. And if my wife is unhappy nobody is happy.

We don't like the new recorded list either. It does not show dates but mine does show the Season # and the Episode # so we are able to view things in the proper order. I don't like the guide either or the search routine but then I don't like change! I am sure I will learn to live with it (as I must learn to live with it!).
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

That is exactly what I suspected after I bought it on Ebay but guess I won't activate it.. As said, I am replacing a Client. The new programming they have sent down for the Genie doesn't tell you when programs on your"list" were recorded and my wife is unhappy with it. She has 4 to 7 weeks of some programs (saving for binge watching) and she can't see when they were recorded. I still have all the coax run in my house so I'll either swap for one of my dvr's or get another on Ebay.
