My old Garmin 850 only searches in the state I'm in. It never looks outside the state.
For example, I live in Virginia. If I put in a city, it will show cities in Virginia only. If I'm looking for restaurants or points of interest, it will look for them in Virginia.
If I'm traveling south, but still in Virginia, but want to find an address, or restaurant, or point of interest, in North Carolina, I change the state before looking for an address, or restaurant, or point of interest.

Among other junk, Las Vegas UT and Las Vegas CA.
Uh huh. Right.
Oh, here's some more fun stuff. While driving through Las Vegas from the south, heading to Mesquite, it wants me to exit at Eastern Ave and get back on the freeway. It also has no idea there's a Chevron gas station/truck stop/fireworks/booze outlet at the Valley of Fire exit to 169.
I guess I better learn to use the voice search.
