google earth question

when I reinstalled google earth it's opening is totally different. just shows a globe and does not zoom in to where I specified it "find". If I move over to that area the address is highlighted and I can zoom in but it doesn't even zoom directly to the spot.
thought I looked in all the menu items for something I neglected to click but can't find it.
any ideas?
thanks,
bumpy

I would uninstall GE and do a fresh install. That should resolve that odd issue.

    thanks, will try that

reinstalled it and everything is still the same, but somehow in some of the pages to get it installed got some things in Spanish, not in the actual program however.
OH, there is a small whitish Oval that shows up but doesn't jump to address.

Not sure I understand the issue. When i open GE I get the globe with NA centered but nothing more. If I then go to the search line and type in Puyallup, WA it zooms to the Puyallup, WA area but not WAY zoomed in. To get closer in zoom in using the + option. If I want to see a specific campground or Wal-Mart I am able to enter that address and use the same step to get as close as I would like.

that is exactly how it used to work for me. Now when I type in a location to search for the view still remains of the globe, probably ocean someplace. If I manually move/rotate the view around to where my location is placed it prints the address on the globe but then I have to keep zooming in, readjusting location, zoom some more, to get there. I assumed there was some box in the drop down menus that I needed to punch but can't find one.
the opening globe also has arced arrows towards the side which I never had before.

I think GE had a bug or two with Firefox if that's yer browser.
I don't see any probs with Google Earth tho.
Maybe a different browser will show the options.

Are you signed in on a Google account?

I do use Firefox so that may be my problem but previous editions/installations of GE worked great. I would type in an address and it would locate and zoom to it immediately.
    may try IE however.

    GE is a stand-alone app.

I don't have any good answers as I have been on it all day, but will look around for something obvious

  • On the top left side of the screen, click on the “help” tab.
That should get you to the goggle support/help center.
    Good luck!
