google problems

Using Firefox on Windows, it doesn't come with malware and I am very selective about add-ons and sources. No Flash for example. If a site insists on a Flash player, I don't need to see it. Using Chrome for managing my Google account and running Chromecast web apps.

Using Safari on the Mac and all iOS devices, with Chrome as a backup browser for those sites that want to do a little bit more than Safari allows, like running Chromecast web apps, though iOS has dedicated apps to most of the web stuff I want to send to the TV screen.

Explorer and Firefox have common roots in the academic predecessor to Netscape (I think of them all as Mozilla) and while each has evolved in its own direction and bloated themselves in different ways, with common roots come some common weaknesses, which is why anyone pushing a new browser tries to tell us it is a "fresh start." They all have to work with the same web protocols, so by the time you get done a lot of it has to be the same. Main advantage of a "fresh start" browser like Safari is that the development team has a better chance of knowing what all the code is supposed to do, rather than having huge pieces of "don't touch that, it's heritage and nobody understands it" forcing you write a new piece to do almost the same thing with a few additions.

Been there, done that, about 15 years trying to maintain and enhance large mapping and GIS codes, while at the same time doing "fresh start" systems to accomplish the same functions on radically new computer computers, graphic workstations replacing batch jobs on mainframes.

Firefox works well enough on Windows that I don't accept Apple's offer to download and install Safari, as well as it works for me in the Apple environment. Too much mixing of user interface metaphors. Which is also a slight problem sometimes bringing Android UI apps like Chrome into either Apple or Windows environments, but Windows keeps changing anyway as MS tacks on Abndroid and Apple features.

Even google search can't find much on your subject matter. I don't think FF 'contains' malware.

I've run Chrome for years and can't recall a single problem with it.

I have never heard that Firefox is loaded with MalWare..What happens is that they have s sponsor who bundles their crapware with Firefox when you download it (unless you override the defaults) Firefox itself is not full of malware.

I run what I call Onion level security (Layer upon layer upon layer) and not one of those layers finds anything wrong with Firefox.

I like the guy who said Google is full of mal-ware but chrome is ok.. Uh,, Chrome is google's browser.

I found Chrome to be a pain in the operating system's exhaust port.

(You will likely understand that statement in about 2 hours.. and when you do.. You will laugh).

By the way.. For Chris.. Google is not full of mal-ware.. Likely one of the cleanest sites on the net,, they have some very good security folks (I knwo some of them). BUT the links... (Those are not on Google) The LINKS often are malware,, Epically if you are using the most popular search terms.

Like a friend of mine did.. He used the single most popular search word and after watching the naughty ladies... he was infected.

I have been using Chrome for years on desktops, laptops, netbooks, etc. It never crashes. One of the most stable pieces of software I have ever used.

It's funny reading all of the different experiences. I'm one of those that goes back and forth between Chrome and Firefox depending on who is working better at the time. I have been a user of Google Voice for many years and then last month Chrome suddenly "lost" the Voice plugin and refused to recognize it upon re-installation. After fighting with it for a while I downloaded a copy of the latest Firefox and it recognized the Google Voice plugin immediately. In fact right now I am sitting on a conference call with our BLR development team using Firefox and Google Voice. Go figure...

I tried Chrome a while ago and hated it. I pay for my bandwidth and Chrome ate it up too quickly. It claims to be fast, and how they work that is to constantly download every web page you might want to visit, so that when you do visit you get the updated page rather than a cached, outdated version. Chrome does this even when it's minimized and unused. When I was using Chrome my bandwidth usage went up by 0ver 20%, putting me over my monthly max. Firefox has been working mostly well for me for over 10 years so I'll stay with it.

I have been using Chrome for years on desktops, laptops, netbooks, etc. It never crashes. One of the most stable pieces of software I have ever used.

We use Chrome on 2 machines. Rock solid.

I use Chrome for Facebook, Firefox for most of the surfing I do, and Internet Explorer for Hotmail and non-tracking surfing. They all work fine.
