Has anyone used a prepaid T-Mobile SIM card in Alaska?
Hi,
Planning on going back to Alaska possibly later this summer, and was wondering if my T-Mobile prepaid SIM card will work up there? I see on their website that they piggy back off of two Alaska providers, GCI and AT&T, for postpaid subscribers, but there's no mention of whether a prepaid phone will work up there.
I currently have an AT&T and a T-Mobile prepaid SIM card in 2 different phones, but was thinking of switching the AT&T to T-Mobile as well, if they'll work up there. The T-Mobile prepaid system is much more "foreigner" friendly than the AT&T setup. I can "park" a US based phone number with as little as $3/month, and get 30 minutes/texts per month. That system works well for me. I have to replenish my AT&T prepaid account with $100/year to keep it from expiring before 365 days are up, and then if it's not all used up, have to top it up again, or lose it. Not the best option.
Any anecdotal experiences with using prepaid in Alaska would be very helpful.
