Yep, it's dead I'm afraid.The changer unit is located under the passenger seat and to replace it would be around $500.00 (plus approx $150.00 labor) I could do this, but maybe there is a more creative and less expensive solution out there!My stereo has a cassette player and no input jacks of any kind (for an iPod player) Does anyone have any kind of creative idea to get some music back into my truck? I wouldn't balk at buying an iTouch or an iPod dedicated to the task. At least then I could cram on 10,000 songs w/ the iPod. Would it be hard to wire the in dash unit for an iPod or would it have it's own little lead chord coming from the dash somewhere? Ok, so if I can't go the iPod route is there perhaps a device that I could plug a thumb drive or an SD card into to get my music through my speakers? The truck has killer speakers too - but if a solution exists that doesn't utilize the speakers, meh, but ok I guess.I'm mostly perplexed by the intricacies of this sort of thing.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I would go to crutchfield .com and order a new radio with a USB input on its front. Cost could be less than 100 and it well control the I pod. U tube the install, it's pretty easy.I miss the Garmin MP3 player also. You have to buy a 700 dollar motorcycle Garmin to have the MP3 player.

Another option is one of those FM radio transmitter gizmos that you plug into the earphone jack on your iPod and it sends the tunes through your radio. Those things are actually pretty cheap, maybe $20 or so, and save for the hassle of having to change frequency from time to time as you drive around the country to keep from getting interference from local stations, they seem to work well as long as the iPod is within 10 feet or so of your radio antenna.

The Cassette adapter is probably the easiest. However, the cassette adapter does not transmit stereo sound. It's mono. The hardwire FM transmitter might work best. However, depending on the model/type it gets close to just replacing the entire stereo. Check Crutchfield to see what fits your vehicle. I prefer something with USB. If the USB connection is on the front of the deck go with Nano USB. It sticks out 1/4". If it's stolen your out $10. Ipods/Iphones/Smartphones are nice. If you forget it in the vehicle and it's stolen it will hurt. For a little more money for a deck you could get bluetooth. I added an Alpine to the wife's vehicle. It also works great at Bluetooth streaming Pandora. Crutchfield is great at sending the instructions and any adapters required. Local stores will sell the adapters separately.

A few aftermarket decks will only send music to the front speakers while working on USB. Always read the reviews.

Yes, I did just find some on eBay that are reasonable. $180.00 or so.

Still going to cost me to have the seat and wires lifted (I'm just gal who doesn't do heavy lifting and car electronics)

So, now I have several different alternatives that I didn't have before. I love this forum!

FM Transmitters tend to sound pretty lousy because of the low bandwidth available. Have you checked any local junkyards for a replacement CD changer? I had to replace mine last year. $750 at the stealership, $25 at the junkyard. It took me literally minutes to swap out.

If you are going to do an FM modulator, which I have done several times, go with one that is hard wired into the antenna.. Like this..

you might need antenna adapter cables depending upon the size of the antenna cable on a range rover

Since you range rover has a remote CD deck, you can probably swap the connection out to an aux input converter, which I have also done in a few vehicles.

I used this USASPEC it replaces your CD changer. It will even allow control from your steering wheel controls if you have them.

Wouldn't that necessitate my having to buy the JamBox speakers and place them or it in my car?

I already have 12 Alpine Brand speakers in my car that I'd like to use first.

Or am I misunderstanding?
