Mellincom Antenna Adapter

This antenna is a recommended add on:
Universal Antenna with Adapter

Recommended for 3G Advanced, 3G/4G Hotspot, 3G/4G Unlimited and many BYOD Plans.

Omni Polarization Magnetic Mount 5db 13inch External Antenna, Ground Plane Built In (Independant 3rd Party testing has shown to give up to 14db gain)

Cell Frequencies: CDMA, TDMA, GSM, PCS, EVDO, & LTE Protocols.
MM5db13i Frequency Range 700-2500 MHz Impedance 50Ohms Gain

Any experience: good or bad? Have you had any place Mellincom would not connect to the internet? Anything I should know about installing and hooking up the hotspot? THANKS!!!!

I have one did not do anything to improve my signal. Wasted 50 bucks
  • I use the Wilson Sleek amplifier combined with the Wilson Short Trucker Antenna with Millenicom's Hotspot. Are there places where I couldn't connect to a Verizon tower? Sure - no cell carrier covers every square foot of the country. That said, I also carry an AT&T iPhone (also in a Sleek amp when driving), and there are far more places where the Millenicom system connects and the AT&T does not.

Right now I'm in Buckskin Mountain State Park in AZ, and the Millenicom Hotspot is connected to Verizon 4G LTE with an RSSI of 82% and a signal strength of -89db. The AT&T phone is either no service or one bar. On the other hand, in parts on northeast Maine, no Verizon & good AT&T coverage.
  • We used the Wilson amp at home like RoyB to get 3G for our MiFi with Verizon (our only internet) until they upgraded a nearby antenna to 4G. Now we just carry the Wilson in the RV for those times that it's needed.

In evaluating what internet we wanted for home, I'd looked at satellite and microwave providers in addition to the MiFi. Satellite had too many negative reviews. Microwave was available IF I removed some trees.

The benefit I'd not thought of was that with the MiFi, we'd have internet wherever we were (spelled CAMPING) as long as there was Verizon cell service. We just upgraded our device and will likely switch to Millenicom when our current obligation is up.

I get great results with my VERIZON 3G 2200 series MIFI unit all over the Eastern side of the US by sitting my MIFI Unit in the WILSON SLEEK CRADLE that has an external antenna setup. This is my standard use DOCKING station for the MIFI unit when inside my off-road POPUP setup.

Looks similar to this setup from google search

My VERIZON MIFI unit sits in the WILSON CRADLE like this except my unit is a 3G unit.... My MIFI setup allows us to use up to five WIFI devices at the same time within 60-feet or so from the MIFI unit. The Vertical antenna does great for us but I guess one with more gain would be better. So far we haven't needed anything better antenna wise picking the VERIZON CELL PHONE signals here on the East side of the US. If our cell phones pick up the VERIZON cell signals then the MIFI units works like gangbusters for us.

The MILLENICOM setup uses similar MIFI devices on the VERIZON NETWORK...

We are doing just great with our 3G setup for checking emails, paying bills, and some chat with the kids. If we ever want to start downstreaming VIDEO streams then the MILLENICOM 20GB setup will be the way we will go using the VERIZON NETWORK.
