moving to Dish from Direct

We have had Directv for about 25 years. We put on vacation hold for three months and now they can't get it activated again after four days of trying including one in-home tech, and then wanted another 72 hours to figure it out. We cancelled DTV and want to go to Dish. We have had a Dish month to month plan for RV for years. My big question is am I going to be able to continue to use my Walley receiver for the RV with a Dish plan in the house or am I going to have to take a receiver from the house? I'm going to call Dish tech support and talk to them but I found in getting the Walley working with no instructions, there is a lot the tech people don't know. Even if I have to pay an extra $5/month (used to be) it would be worth it not to have to drag a receiver back and forth.
Suggestions would be welcome before I make a big mistake. Now have a 2017 Winnebago View 24V and need to change my profile.

Thanks,
Pam

Thanks. I probably will need to sign a two-year contract but that will be o.k. I had the 211K (pre Walley) but have the G 2+ dish and the Wally is what I got with it from former owner. I don't even know what the Hopper does. We have two receivers in the house (DTV). Thanks for the info. Gives me more questions to ask. I'm going to call tech support before I order anything.

I switched to DISH from DTV a few years ago.

Much happier.

You should be able to use your existing Wally. You might have to buy a new card to activate it.

I have a Hopper and a Joey at home and a 211Z (pre Wally) in the RV.
Not schlepping a rcvr back and forth is nice.

My concern/advice is is DISH going to want to start you in a new contract to get you new equipment in your house or not. If you donโ€™t care about a Hopper, you might be able to buy another Wally and have them add an antenna and not have a contract.

Got some questions to ask.

Thank you both so much. We will not want to use our RV account because the dish is on our RV ladder and under cover where it won't get a signal.

I will call Dish to confirm that I can add the RV to the home account.

Thanks to both of you, and anyone else who wants to chime in. I just don't want to have to go through more hassles.

Call Dish to confirm. But you should be able to use what you have in the RV with no problem even after you add Dish at home. And you should be able to set up a home account and add the RV to that home account for an extra $7/month (unless the price has gone up). We have had Dish at home for over 20 years and had the RV added to the home account for $7/mo for a number of years before breaking it off as a separate dishformyrv account. Only did that because our daughter moved back in with us and when we traveled and changed our locals it would also affect the home account and she could not get local channels while we were traveling.

Yes . . . We do it. You will just have to have a satellite dish from Dish installed in place of the Directv Dish. We do not have a home account. Just the rv account with 3 receivers.
