Newbie Installing Satellite

I am a first time owner of a 2005 Forest River , Flagstaff Fifth wheel.

On the outside of my trailer i have hooked up my coax to the Sat. port.

On the inside i have a wall plate with two screw on coax options.
* Aux. / Sat.
* TV
With a little black botton to turn this switch plate on and off I guess.

On my dish receiver i have jumped from Aux/Sat. to Sat. Signal IN

then from...Sat. Signal out to TV on my receiver to TV on my wall plate.

I can get NO indication that signal is getting to my TV .

My problem is I am getting no signal to my TV , and cannot start the set up process from my receiver.

Im just not sure i am jumping these cables correctly.

    I am not familiar with your set up but do know that there has to be an uninterrupted coax circuit from the dish to the receiver. If the rv circuit / receptacle you are using branches off to the rv antenna it will not work. Try running your dish coax directly to the receiver through the door. If you then receive signal, you have confirmed what I am saying. If this is the case, you may need to install a separate dedicated sat receptacle on the outside to feed the receiver.

    Not uncommon for things to be miswired. Run the coax thru a window and directly to the sat in on the back of the receiver and one cable from to tv to the tv and see what happens. If it works, then you have a cableing issue inside the trailer. I assume your using a ground antenna of some sort? Is it actually designed for dish and not directv?

    You don't need any antenna to get a signal from the box to the tv. It should show something. Did you set your tv to the right input?

    If your satellite coax is running through your antenna output make sure you do not have the booster turned on. The booster will interrupt the signal. The booster is that little black button your talking about. Also what K said make sure your tv is set to the right output

    ok thanks.....But my tv isnt a tv per say
    its a monitor. It has 2 cords one for power
    (not even a regular power cord) and i think a yellow one.

    Let me ask a stupid question , does my dish
    have to be aligned first , i thought setup thru the "tv" menu
    would help me do that ?
    the monitor works fine with cable from my home into the outside receptical . CATV

    My dish box will send a message to the TV that says the box cant find the satellite. In the House I have Directv and it will also send something to the TV when the dish is unhooked from the Box.
    The OP said "...Sat. Signal out to TV on my receiver to TV on my wall plate." I think he needs to go from the box to the TV if nothing is pluged into the TV he won't ever see anything on the TV

    No, your dish does not need to have a signal for your TV to display a connection to your satellite receiver. However, your TV needs to either be capable of receiving channel 3/4 via coax (a monitor is not) or needs to be capable of using HDMI, component or composite connections and those are the connections you would use between the satellite receiver and the TV (not coax).
