Pay As You Go Questions

I currently have a Pay As You Go account with DISH (inactive) and have a couple of questions that the DISH people won't/can't answer unless I activate my account.

1. I currently have 1 receiver on my account, if I add a second receiver is there an additional monthly charge per receiver??

2. I know there is a onetime $40 charge for adding a hard drive to a receiver. Is there an additional $40 charge if I want to add a second hard drive to a second receiver?? Can a hard drive be moved from one receiver to another??

3. Is HD included in the Pay As You Go option for a Mobile Account?? I keep getting conflicting information, is the $100 HD for Life onetime charge still being offered as an option with a Pay As You Go account.

Thanks
  • If that's the new policy and you never used the lifetime option then you will no longer be able to do so.
I just checked the Winegard website and it confirms what is posted above. The new service plans start at $44.95/month and includes HD programming.
    Dish PAYG
Free HD requires a 24 month contract plus auto pay paperless billing.
  • Geez, I hope current accounts might be "grandfathered" in. I signed up for PAYG over a year ago, but never bothered to do the HD option--now I'm out of luck? Oh me oh my!!

Regarding the service, it really is handy, and to suspend it all you have to do is not pay your bill--I've tested this by forgetting to pay my bill.
  • Whether or not it's worth it is depending on If your hooked on cable/satellite only shows or sports

It is not included. I saw $99 one time lifetime fee for PAYG customers.

    Thanks

I checked with Dish CS a few minutes ago, and the "HD For Life" $99 option is no longer available for PAYG accounts. It's only offered as a free option with a 24 month contract at this time. The only HD option is a $10/month add-on. Bummer...
  • Bill.Satellite,
I have direct at home but we are talking about canceling and going back to TW cable.
IS this DISH "pay as you go" a good way to keep my satellite TV viewing when we out on the road. I understand the up front charges, Just wondering if its worth all the hassle and just go with over the air signal while we out and about?
    Thanks,

Yes. Each additional receiver on an account costs $7/month.Yes. Each additional receiver on an account costs $7/month.

There is a one time charge PER ACCOUNT for the DVR setup. I have not done it but I have read that you can use multiple drives on one receiver but I don't believe you can move them between different receivers. Someone will need to clarify that.
