Please help! Trav'ler SWM3 install with Directv

i have spent the last two hours pouring through posts similar in subject to mine but cannot find anyone that seemed to have the issuer i have. i had the Travler SWM3 installed today in my RV and i have two inside TVs and two receivers, one in my main area and the other in the bedroom. the main unit has a H23 reciever and i have HD programming working just fine on it! The bedroom however is another story as i can get SD programming but no HD! the receiver in the bedroom is a H24 and I'm assuming since the setup is SWM, it doesn't need a b band converter, correct? i did actually try to add one but i lost signal all together when i did so i removed it again. Any idea whatsoever what may be causing my bedroom reciever/TV to not detect the HD channels?

Appreciate any feedback and suggestions you may have

  • How is the BR TV connected? There should be a splitter behind the main TV near the power supply. You should have a coax attached from here to the bedroom receiver. Try running a loose coax across the room to the bed room receiver and see what happens
  • If you are getting SD pictures than you must be getting the satellite signal. I am using a H24 in my coach right now. It does not need the B-band converter. Check the satellite type setup again to make sure the correct type of dish is set up right. Also check your TV and satellite resolution settings. It should be set for 720 and up.

Also what type of cable do you have running from the receiver to the TV? It needs to be either HDMI (best) or component cables.
  • When you open the guide, do you see, let's say, channel 231 Food AND channel 231 FoodHD? If so, are you saying you can click on Food and it works but FoodHD does not?
You may also need to change the receiver setup so be sure to go into the Repeat Satellite Setup routine and ensure it's set to 17- Slimline 3SWM and SWM for the multiswitch. With that set, go to Signal Strength and check the 3 satellite to ensure 99, 101, 103 all are showing signal (the sats that end with (s) can be ignored). If that's all good, click on all the Continue buttons until you get to the end and can watch TV.
