Hi,

Recently I started getting lots of pop ups on Woodalls using Firefox. Is this me or something else.

I've run malawarbytes and superantispyware but the problem persists.

Another tool I often recommend besides AdwCleaner(Adaware Cleaner) is JRT(Junk Removal Tool) also available through Bleeping Computers. Both are effective in removing browser hijacks. And are portable apps that do not require install. You can run them from your desktop.

To answer your earlier question regarding Firefox. In most cases, you don't have to re-install Firefox for these types of issues. In fact, re-installing Firefox without removing your existing profile, doesn't remove the problem.

The easiest way is to just create a new Firefox profile which can be done by:

  • Hold down Windows Key+R and in RUN, type Firefox -p and press ENTER key.
  • Click the Create Profile button, and follow the prompts.
  • Make sure the option to automatically start Firefox with your new profile is checkmarked.

You're now running Firefox as if it were just installed. In which case, you'll have to import any bookmarks and install any extensions you previously were using.

I think I have it removed.

I used ADWCleaner from bleeping computers.

Found out I have msma2793.biz. Anyone have a good recent site for removal? I can't get past step one because of an access denied limitation.

I regularly delete all 'cookies' too, which tend to prompt ads related to your recent searches or views.

In Firefox:
Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> under History you can "clear your recent history" or "remove individual cookies". While you're there, put a check into checkbox to "Tell sites that I do not want to be tracked"

Just do what 1492 said with the "Acblock Plus" add on and pop-ups go away.

Hi,

Since I have no book marks I wish to save, can I simply uninstall firefox and then reinstall it?

Jeff, Baby steps please. I don't understand.
same thing 1492 is talking about. Im on the iphone right now but if i remember its the second pulldown from the right. In there is a line called either add-ins or extensions. In THAT there is a Search for Extensions field. Type in either one of the names above and they will show up to add. IF Firefox is the latest version, sometimes the extensions are automatically disabled since they are made for earlier versions. They will tell you if they are compatable or not so go in and play, its pretty hard to break Firefiox

What kind of popups? Are they Good Sam/Camping World related? If not, they are likely not from the forums.

I'm not seeing any popups on Woodalls.com forums at all. There is a Javascript file for popup.js on the forums page, but don't think its related to any ads. May be for Help popup window?

You can install the extension Adblock Plus and see if the popups disappear. If not, you likely have some form of adaware browser hijack, and need to remove it. Either manually or through some freeware tools.
