Refurbished Garmin GPS

Thanks, folks. Refurb it is!

I own many "refurbished" and "reconditioned" products. Saves a lot of money and they are the same thing. Never had problems with any of them. Garmin makes good products so you will be fine.

Make sure that it is "factory refurbished" and not refurbed by a 3rd party though. The later are usually used units that are cleaned up and resold.

I would buy refurbished directly from the manufacturer and avoid second party . The manufacturer ( Garmin ) will warrantee as new and treat as new . Not so always with second party stuff

Our refurbished Garmin worked great, but some words of warning: When we called Garmin to get an update, they refused. The unit was still registered to the previous owner. Regardless of the fact that we bought it with factory seals on the package, we could never update it.

My friend was the manager in the jewelry area and he bought big quantity's of GE radio's, tape recorders etc. they were refurbished and he sold them for less. He felt they were better than new. I never had any problems with the item we bought.

Bought a refurbished 50LTM for $75 frt. paid. Works great. Most refurbished stuff is returns from people that changed their mind after they opened the box. Not because it was defective.

Just got one this past week. Have not used it yet, so to early to tell.

I have a 2555LMT for No. Amer. I love it over our 3 year old unit which was stolen. The total price including sales tax, $113. Much cheaper than new. I don't know why but Garmin seems to have a high infant mortality rate and the refurbished are very reliable.

Bought a new Garmin years ago. Went bad fairly quickly. Sent it in for repair, received a refurbished in it's place. Still working today.

My current one is refurbished. I've had it almost 4 years and no problems. As stated above had a full year warranty. Just wish I could get refurbished RV740LTM unit.
