Sat antenna placement

I usually have no problem finding a place to set my Winegard Carryout where it will acquire the signal.. however soon we will be located in a campsite where a view of the proper sky will not be available from ground level... I think it might have a chance from the roof of the tt.. has anyone ever placed their carryout on their edpm rubber roof for a weekend or so... will it damage the roof?
  • They are also quite expensive. Especially when you compare it to sitting it on the roof for free!
Just be very careful going up and down a ladder. A fall would make the free mounting place VERY expensive!

Please correct me however, I thought a special "plate/stand" is available that attaches to the top of the ladder and secures the antenna.

    Are they practical?

    Thanks.

Great idea that I looked into BUT I don't have an attached ladder or provisions to install one.. wish I did

  • Putting the Carryout on the roof will not cause any damage. You should not have any concerns about leaving it there if you can get the signal.
  • I've placed my tailgater on the roof for the last 3 years as fulltimers while we're volunteering 8-9 months per year if we're traveling I'll just set it on the ground or a picnic table. it hasn't damaged the roof.
