Sat TV equipment question

I’m getting ready for another summer on the road and want to be ready for the loss of SD tv with my 2 D-12 receivers. My question for you experts, if I install an H24 receiver and a B band converter to my existing KVH dome, will I get my SD channels now, before April ‘19, and after the switch to MPEG-4? Life was so much simpler with only SD. Thanks for any help!

KVH is someone of an unknown and operates differently than Winegard or KD. As mentioned, the B-Band converter is only for HD and you will still not receive HD for now. You might need to contact KVH support to see if your particular antenna will support an H24.

Yes, you should. I do not need the B-band converters with my King Quest dish to get the SD stations. I talked to tech support at King and they do not know if the dish will be usable at all for DirecTV after the demise of SD, but it will still work with DISH if I buy the optional controller.

Not sure why KD would say that. If it works with DirecTV now, it will work with DirecTV when they drop SD as they are not changing any other broadcast parameters like they did with DISH years ago.

Dunno about your questions, but you'll enjoy HD more than SD.
