Slight price difference

Refrigerator on my old Class B decided to go belly up, old and not worth paying to replace all the defective parts. Priced a replacement at another source then called CW to see if their price was close so I could take advantage of the $59.00 install. $1082 at the competitor and $1600 at CW. I would pay an extra hundred or so to do business locally but not $600.00.

I won't bash CW, the person I spoke to in parts was extremely helpful and professional. I just don't get the huge price differential.
  • I went with the $1082 unit and $100.00 for local repair guy to install it. They had free shipping on this unit so I guess I did okay. Still cost more than the refrigerator in my house. Ah Well, it's only money. Thanks to all for the replies. Travel safe... Bob J.
  • Just a heads up...read, re-read, and re-read again those $59 installs. Lotsa posts here about fine print CW adds after the fact. Never availed myself of their installs, so no personal knowledge, but like I said, just a heads up.
  • CW does have the most RV stuff in one place. Hands down convenient for picking up essentials and small replacement parts.

BUT, I found for the big ticket items it is way cheaper to go to a local camping store or dealership and order the item. For me I have never had to wait more than a day. Since these places have deliveries every day anyway.

Then I call RV mobile repair and have it installed where ever my MH is parked. I have saved 'thousands' of dollars over the years doing it this way.

You'd be surprised how many dealerships across the US will have a small camping parts store attached or an independent one in close proximity to the dealership itself. They order from the 'same' places CW does!
  • if your handy even just a little?? it takes about an hour to pull and replace one. in my area we have a mom pop rv shop , sold me a roof unit $650. cheaper than CW installed the next day. to each there on ,you gotta pick one.
  • Did you price the fridge at any other RV places locally? Might be someplace that falls sorta in between CW and the (online?) price. I found my own local RV shop to be remarkably competitive with online prices.
  • Others have found and commented on the same thing, we have found it also. The big advantage to CW in my opinion is availability. When I am looking for something with all the time in the world I will search, when I need it "right now" I don't mind paying a LITTLE extra for the convenience. Most of what we buy from CW we pick up browsing in the store. No one else has so much RV stuff in one place.
