Smart Phone Remote App

I cannot believe no one has asked this. I have searched the forums and found nothing. My RV did not come with the remote for the Jensen CD/DVD/MP3 AM/FM Stereo. There is an IR window, so it must be compatible. My question is, has anyone found a smartphone remote control app to run these items? Or is there a programmable remote app that if i find the right code i can input it. I'm really trying hard not to spend anymore money.

no such animal exists However there is hope.

WHY: Smart phones do not support Infra Red, they have no IR hardware and thus can not replace an I/R Remote.

older PDA's however DO have I/R communications ability (Go back about 10 years) and there was indeed a I/R Remote app for those

Finally there are Remotes in the 50-150 dollar range where you can download device

specific programs and USB transfer to the remote.. They are true Universal" and many of them can duplicate ALL the functions of the OEM remote... ANY OEM Remote (Save Dish Remote #2 Remote 1 yes.. 2.. Well ... Some of them perhaps #2 is RF not I/R))

Dude; read the thread. THERE ARE SMART PHONES THAT HAVE BUILT IN IR!

And you can buy IR / Bluetooth bridges for those that don't.

The writeup says "... the Galaxy S5 can be used to control all types of devices and brands available on the market.". I guess that's misleading then if it only supports TVs.

I would have guessed that it would have similar capabilities to the Remote app that came with my LG G2 phone where it supports many audio & video devices (It actually lists Jensen under audio devices) and even has a "Learn" mode that let's you create custom remotes.

Thanks everyone... i have an app, it's basic..it turns the jensen on and off and changes the radio stations.... not sure if i can get it to work the DVD..but I'll play while on vacation. it cost 3.99 with a lifetime money back guarantee. It's for Galaxy phones called Galaxy Universal Remote.

Since the Galaxy S5 includes IR it also comes with an app called Smart Remote. You could have saved the $3.99.

How to use the Galaxy S5 as a remote control

Don't know of any smart phone that support IR. I have an app that controls my time warner cable box, and one that controls my Samsung tv but they both are WIFI based.

we have a CORRECT answer
current smart phones do NOT have an IR output
you can find apps that control Wifi enable devices BUT NOT IR

get the model number off the Jensen and buy a cheap universal remote that supports that model

searching for IR control will not find anything.. because there is nothing to find

Actsaully Mr. wizard your are incorrect... the Galaxy S5 has an IR output. and i did find an app...

Yeah, he already said that.

My LG G2 phone has IR built-in and also comes with a Remote app. I'm pretty sure any phone that has IR capability would also come with an app to make use of it.

why not just google search for the correct remote?

I have been all over the internet... I don't want to spend any money and if i do find anything I won't have in time for our first trip which is Thursday.
Why would you think the app is free? Most of the TV apps you see are for WiFi enabled TV's, AND... At least the iPhone doesn't even have an IR emitter

This isn't correct. Many of the newer models support IR. Here's a listing with over 2 dozen.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 indeed has an IR emitter. There are also several IR apps available in the Google store. I don't use the app that came with the phone. The one I use is called IR Remote. Doesnt have the guide etc.

You can buy Bluetooth IR remotes transmitter for iPhones on Amazon. $20 and up.
I bought one for the old iphone a few years ago. It worked ok but pulling up the app getting toothed right remote was not as easy as picking up a dedicated remote.

You can integrate different devices into one custom remote.

I played with it awhile and lost interest.

I might try a Harmony again Tried one and took it back.
