Speed to stream?

Netflix on the lowest quality setting will stream on 2G if there is a good signal from the cell phone tower.

I have no idea what the actual speed is. 3g.. maybe. 4g, yeah, that works.

Video quality counts for much.

If it's not a special effects filled show, we can usually get pretty good streaming by downgrading the picture quality.

Thanks for the replies. I know I could have probably Googled it but I wanted real people answers, what actually works, not what should work.

These are general speed ranges, the streaming source could require different speeds.

This is the closest answer but it totally depends on CODECS used, and they are getting better almost by the week

I've streamed programming from the Dish Hopper w/Sling at our Adirondack cottage to our motorhome for hours at a time with no buffering using only Verizon 3G Jetpacks on both ends.

We live in the country and can stream Netflix in HD with our 5mbps service. If it falls below 5 for whatever reason, Netflix down-shifts to SD.

Actually... we live out in the country. Our Internet is supposed to give us 3 mbps but we only get 1 to 1.5

We are able to stream both Netflix and Amazon. Sometimes it is very slow but mostly we are able to watch movies and shows with no problems.

We have Direct TV with a DVR. We can pause and record shows. We don't have enough bandwidth to start a program from the beginning.

We moved here from Austin where they now have AT&t and Google fiber...it was a big adjustment for us in the beginning but now we have no traffic!

5G works well.
