I had looked into all the above. I already have a FM transmitter but it eats batteries. Tried the tape deck input and the sound of the deck was way too loud. No AUX input as it is way too old for that.

Then as I was reading your post for the second time I thought of a couple things that I will have to add to this project:
- 12V plugs to charge the satellite receiver, cell phone
- May as well locate one of the inverters to this area as I will have a straight drop to the fuse panel and can charge camera batteries using this
- Will look for a deck that has a IPOD plugin and a AUX in for the satellite receiver

Thanks everyone. Just wanted to make sure that I was not missing anything. As soon as it warms up I will be making the switch.

This will also give me some more storage space as the old stereo is HUGE and I will make a small cabinet there to put electronic devices in. This way I will be able to use the satellite head in all my vehicles as well.

This explains how to do it. I would swap the OEM for a suitable car stereo to accept the sat system.

After replacing the stereo, I would get a Sirius Sportster satellite head unit and two docking ports. You could place one in the camper and one in the cab of your truck. The portability of this unit will give you many setup options and you only need to pay for one subscription.

I have had one for years and love it.

I swapped my stock junky RV stereo for a nice car stereo in my TT.
It is very simple to do. I noted which wires went where, as they were all marked and then simply hooked up the new harness to the old wires by the schematic provided with the new unit.

The difference is night and day in sound and features.

I had to make a cover plate to cover part of the hole where the old stereo was, as it was bigger, and I did a little surgery on the cabinet but that was easy to so.

Well worth the swap!!

Many TC manufacturers use automotive radios , I don't believe you will have any problem just make sure you find a good locations for your antenna or antennas and a good ground.

AM/FM is not available in the mountains. Most of the campgrounds that I stay at are not close to a city so no signal for radio or cell phones. I like to also listen to the weather as well.
