Many of the online chat CSR systems have lists of standard replies they can just click on rather than take the time to type it in. The stock answers are not always exactly correct for the question asked though, so some discretion on the part of the CSR is called for if they're paying attention. Sometime a chat system rep is handling 3 or 4 session screens at the same time though, so they don't always get it quite right. I'm not making any apologies for them, but a CSR's productivity is often graded in part on minimizing the time spent on each call as well as maximizing the number of calls handled. I don't know that VZW does it that way, but it is a pretty common productivity measure for both chat and phone reps.

It's been obvious to me that I'm not the only person they're talking to. Sometimes it can be a minute between responses.

i've always had live real people, i can tell because we often get slightly off topic

If we are using the latest educational program, Common Core, the answer is not important, rather the process. So if you added the first two numbers and got close to 7 and subtracted the last and got close to 5, you are good!

I still like to say that you are interested, and then put them on hold or put the phone down and walk away! It takes them a while to realize that you are ready not interested. It also keeps them from bothering someone else.

I always use Verizon chat and have never had any problems with who I am talking to.
