- burlmartExplorerDesktop w/ large print regular XP style and slick pop-out side menu. I got tired of all black, so I use it mainly in browser and Word docs. Anytime you want, you can toggle hi contrast black w/ left shift+alt+prt scrn
FF with several hi contrast black add-ons - burlmartExplorercleo, there are others that also have W8 and 'droid
Michael, thanks for the shots...they make XP look nice - mgirardoExplorerYou can always get a copy of Virtual Box and run Android Ice Cream Sandwich as a Virtual Machine if you really want to see Android on a computer. It's not impressive.

I am a big fan of XP and Mozilla, also. No Google Chrome or anything else from them, but mainly 'cuz it seems not to do hi-contrast black very well, which I need a lot. I am wondering what the risks are after XP support ends next April. Do you know much about this? What's the worst that might happen if you keep using it?
IE8 on XP is actually pretty nice, and it can be customized a bit, but not nearly like FF. Also, IE seems slower.
I just follow the computer tech as a hobby, I don't even have a cell phone. I have never used Android, except to see some screens on Martha's smartphone. I like its white text on black background on many of its screens.
I am curious about where it will go now that Android PCs are coming out everywhere.
Your website is nice and I plan to look at it some more.
How are mosquitos up there in summer? - sue_tExplorerBeing one of the 39.51% who loves my XP, I recently deleted Google junk from my desktop when I came to the realization it was responsible for numerous BSODs each day, determined via the Event Viewer.
Only Google item remaining on my system is Google Earth. But I've disabled Google Update, which was also creating numerous errors.
So now using Firefox because IE8 doesn't play well with facebook groups since facebook changed their photo uploader.
"Clouds" aren't an option for those of us who live in the bush with limited bandwidth available, and what we do have is costly. Uploading anything is tediously slow, downloading a bit quicker but still slow compared to service South of 60. :B - burlmartExplorerOnly 4 months later, and Android is hitting the desktop PCs of all the major manufacturers, some run both W8 and Andeoid.

Will the Google cloud hit it big w/ enterprise as many were discussing on this thread?
Will small device mobile apps be reworked for the bigger screens pf desktops?
Will Chromebooks, the Google Pixel, in particular, start including Androd" - cleo43Explorer

You need translation for ... Firefox, Chrome, Thunderbird... ???!!!
or LibreOffice (some Windows users here in this forums already knew about that better than me - a Linux user).
As for that strange language (command line) you mentioned, how many Windows users use that - even Windows have one - that's used by the techies ? - lwmuddyExplorerIf Ubuntu had a built in converter to change the terminology shown to that of Windows, which Windows users are used to then they might really pick up new customers. - burlmartExplorerI think the cpu on the samsung chromebook is less powerful than most smartphones.
Which is another reason why the chromebooks make sense for schools that might have a computer room -- they have no need for an IT department since all the hardware and software is at Google's place.
