I am still confused why the ipconfig commands for release and renew are any different than having Windows reset the adapter - just a lot easier.
I am also confused as to how this eliminates the phone if the PC is able to connect effortlessly to any wireless access point and reach the Internet except when connecting through the phone.
Regarding cutting and pasting from a command window... you need to right-click on the top border of the window and click Edit->Mark and then select the area you want to copy and then left-click on the top border and click Edit->Copy.
