Windows 10 Laptop Question
When I insert an SD card, it is not recognized. If I remove it, restart and reinsert it, it is recognized. Any thoughts on how to correct this problem?

It looks like the RAID 1 will do what I need. The laptop has Thunderbolt 3 /USB C 3.2. A two drive enclosure would be convenient. I'll have to do some more reading about NAS and RAID, you have me pointed in the right direction.
