Don't know how it happened, but when I logged into my computer today it started to down load windows 8.1. My computer is windows 8.
It told me not to turn off the computer while download was in progress. So I waited.
Then when I logged into my Yahoo.com e-mail the print was so small I can't read it very good.
even here on this site the print is real small. I can change the fonts on my out going e-mail and make it larger but not on the in coming e-mail or the other sites. I have tried every thing I know to change the size of the fonts but no luck. Help??? Please.

I need to shut that ability off! On my laptop while typing my left wrist rests on the laptop below the keyboard. Apparently just light pressure on this area causes the keyboard to think the ctrl key is pressed. If I then use the scroll the font changes. Very annoying.

Because there are quite a few knowledgeable people here willing to help out a fellow RV'er. I've found much better, friendlier help here than on computer tech websites.

So far, the font sizing advice has been limited to the web browser. If the you are interested in increasing the size of all text within the Win8.1 environment:
1. Right-click on your desktop background and select "Screen Resolution" from the menu.
2. Click on the link that reads "Make text and other items larger or smaller" which is located below the other display settings (2nd from the bottom on mine).
3. Slide the sizing slider-bar towards "Larger" and click the "Apply" button.

Another option would be to reduce the screen resolution on that first window. That may or may not work well depending on your monitor's compatibility with the lower resolution. Think of it this way, lower resolution (less pixels) distributed across the same physical screen surface area equates to the pixels needing to be larger. Everything "appears" larger that way. However, the LCD display has a real number of physical pixels known as its native resolution. So, faking other resolutions by having the LCD emulate larger pixels can sometimes look soft and fuzzy.

Well I for one am amazed at the speed and accuracy of the information given here regarding not only computers but all the electronics we(the empirical "we") use in our travels. The Moderator "1492" is a stall worth when it comes to Quick, Accurate and Easy to Understand help. Thanks to all.

Never could understand why you continuously post the same lament in a forum full of questions on technology that you yourself regularly read.

It's called growing pains.
You have to put up with it as we progress.

Haven't we had this conversation before? 😞

You're right, it is the correct forum!

You'll have to upgrade to WIN 8.1 to continue receiving future MS updates. WIN 8 is no longer supported. CTRL+0(zero) will reset the type size to the browser's default size. However, you can change this in your browser preferences to override the default display font and size. But this can be overridden by the website if using style attributes.

Are you using a mouse? Have you tried holding down the ctrl key while scrolling the mouse wheel? This isn't permanent but if it works on your machine, it will allow you to read the text.

Hey it worked Thanks a bunch

Have you gone to the "tools" and clicked for zoom size?

Love Win 8.1. Guess I am a loner out here with the other 30,000,000 or so Windows 8.1 users but that's OK, I have been a lone voice in the wind for a very long time!
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.

That only means that there are many things in life you do not understand. Do you believe that RVers don't use computers or have ever dealt with computer issues?
Look around, there are some amazingly well informed computer folks on these forums.
