Winegard anser portable sat

If I pick up the Winegard portable Sat, which is just the newest in portable satellite dishes, and hook it up to the Sat input on the outside of my motorhome will it be able to work with 2 different Dish VIP Sat receiver boxes? I know the Anser has 2 coax outputs so it can control 2 different boxes but I don't want to run the coax cables thru windows to front tv and rear bedroom tv.

Any thoughts?
  • Please disregard the answer directly above this as it is incorrect.
If you want to use the Anser or other dome style antenna with more than one receiver you must run more than one cable.
To hook up your 2 receivers you will need to run to cables (one to each) and they will both work. With the Anser you can point to the 72.7 satellite and receive all of the Dish programming from one single satellite so both receivers can watch any channel you choose. What is not available on the 72.7 satellites is any kind of Network programming (ABC, CBS, Fox.....). For that you just use your over the air antenna.
    Edited for spelling only.
  • You will need to contact a DISH retailer/installer and purchase a "diplexer" to split the signal form the sat to two different receivers.
  • To my knowledge, the only sat signal that can be split prior to the receiver is the DTV SWM.
