  • I bought my Highway Products RV box from "My Tool Store" . They were cheaper than buying direct from the manufacturer. Here is the link:

  • Bought the one for my short bed at Pep Boys. Below the bed rail chest. For the long bed it is built into the flip back cover.
  • Bought my under rail toolbox at Lowes. Cheapest place to buy one have had it 12 years and is still in good shap. Make sure you buy a diamond plate tool box
  • Check Craigslist. I often see the metal truck boxes listed there under auto parts or tools.

    I prefer a plastic box I have had for 10 years. It moves between truck and van plus is easy to remove when I want the bed to haul other things. Water proof, light weight, locks, has handles on each end, and relatively cheap. I think I paid around $30 ten years ago at Wal Mart. Now I see similar boxes for $50-60.

    I got mine from RDS. Sold through Northern Tool Co. or can order direct from them I think and have delivered to you or an installer.

    I actually have a combo 40 gallon fuel tank/toolbox but I believe they make straight tool boxes too. Many on this forum have RDS boxes. No complaints on mine after 2 years. I don't think you will beat their prices. Take a look at the RDS site as they have a zillion different boxes.

    My box sits just below the bedrails so I am still able to use a tonneau cover.

    If doing over, I would get their 60 gallon/toolbox combo. Same footprint but with a smaller toolbox section.

    I have heard, but not confirmed, that RDS will custom build a box for you.

    Ditto on RDS combo tool box & diesel tank. I Have a 51 gallon alum combo that I love; (bought likewise at Northern Tool).
    * Bought the gravity drain connection.
    * Had it approx 12 years.
    * Mounted nicely in my 2009 D/A 2500.

    Highway Products are likely the least expensive truck boxes. You only have to buy once and it will outlast several trucks. Probably outlast your desire to RV. All aluminum and good quality.
  • Recently traded trucks.....

    Now we have 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500 CrewCab diesel Dually

    Thanks
