Here's a suggestion you haven't heard before. Buy a used rig from a fireman. Yes a FIREMAN. They are fanatics about their equipment, and they are all experts in either plumbing, electric, engines, tool & die, or some other mechanical trade. Really. These guys are nuts for maintenance and take pride in how perfect their possessions are.
Go to a local firehouse and just ask if anyone there owns a motorhome, and are they thinking of selling, or do they know someone who's selling? I bought my first one and by chance it was owned by an asst Chief who was moving up to a really big one. It was 18 years old and looked, drove and worked like it was 18 months! Good luck!
