What ever you do don't walk away while you're filling the water tank. My brother in-law got sidetracked and forgot to turn the hose off. As a result the fresh water tank blew up and the floor raised inside his motorhome. That was an expensive mistake.
That's a kind of mess we don't want to happen.
That can't happen unless someone plugged the vents like so many recommend here.
Who knows what happened, but the water was going in his tank for several hours. It happened to his older Prevost motorhome. They've been RVing for last 50 years or more.
Suppose anything is possible. I've learned more about what is "possible" on this forum than in the entire rest of my life I swear....
Although alot of it is forum posters' kindergarten mentality type stuff, like this thread. "Ya know, once, I saw a guy filling his FW tank with a fire hose from a fully open hydrant, and he started filling it then walked into the bar, drank 6 beers, came out 3 hours later and there was water EVERYWHERE!! Thus my conclusion is it's unsafe to fill a water tank with a hose.....any hose. Now I use a pitcher and meter the water in while my DW counts numbers of pitchers and converts pitchers to ounces to ml to l back to gallons just as a double check because I found a metric bolt in my camper and was worried that the tank capacity was maybe in litres not gallons!"
