Buyer's Guide for RV's?

Can anyone recommend a Buyer's Guide for RV's, i.e., something like what Consumer Reports does every year for their car buyer's guide?

I am retiring at the end of this year, and though we've had an RV for 20 years, we are upgrading from a travel trailer to a motorhome (likely Class A, about a 30'), and I'd like to do some serious research on the manufacturers, and their different models.

Thanks so much for any help you can give me.

    just...wow.

  • Duster340 pretty much nailed it. The RV industry as a whole is, for the most part, putting out junk. Instead put your research into the dealership. Once you find the RV you want find a dealer and research them. Don't be lured in by a nationwide network of dealers, research the individual one that has your unit. Forums, state AGO's, state BBB's are good sources, as is this web site. Actually if you have a 20 year old RV that works, stick with it. Or if you can't find a local dealer, be handy with a tool kit.
  • I saw this site (RV Reviews). Before I bought their book, I thought I'd see if there were any other alternatives, since I'd never heard of them before.

    Thanks for the info.
  • I don't know of an all encompassing publication (consumer reports), but I suspect you know more than most buyers. As far putting all the pieces together to make a unit, the better ones 5-10 years ago may not be so good today. I suspect that's why you don't see reviews due to build quality over the long haul. Motorhomes will have much of the same fixtures, construction, appliances, utilities and conveniences you're accustom to. They are an assembly of those same TT manufacturer's products, just jumbled in different locations. I wish there was a short cut, but internet opinions can be so misleading, almost confrontational.
