camera

We tow a 27ft travel trailer behind our Avalanche. Behind the trailer we also tow our boat. What we are looking for is a camera to put on the back of the trailer so we can see the boat. What we are wondering is, if anyone can suggest a product they have used. We are getting frustrated at the amount of cameras and the variance in price.
  • Thanks for the info.

WannavolunteerFT....you are also long. When we pull trailer and boat we are 73ft. 2 under the legal limit. I guess hubby won't be getting "two footitus" LOL!
  • I have the Voyager wireless. Bought it from Camping World when they had it on sale for $100 off. My local dealer installed and tech wired to light mounted on cabinet in rear rather than tail light, so it works as a security camera at end away from bed if I want. Because of this connection, I pulled away from trailer at shop and drove away still seeing the view on the camera. Only when I got the metal shop building between me and the camera did I lose my view. I am sure you would not have a problem with it, no matter how long your trailer is. FYI, my TT is 28 ft and my TV is full sized extended cab PU with long bed, so over 50 ft.
  • We use a voyager wireless system. It was very pricey but we did purchase it from a friend at a significant discount(thankfully).

You may find this rv backup camera article helpful for digging deeper on the options.

    Loulou,
Check out this thread:Back up camera mod

Read about the iBall camera and there's a link to the company too. Seems to be a good product.
  • Brian..thanks. I guess I forgot to say it has to be wireless and manage the length
  • Thanks Jim for the info. We don't do it all the time and only some provinces allow it also. In ontario....in order to pull a trailer and boat you first have to have a black plate. In other words a full size truck. No SUV, van or car. You must stay under 75ft and your total weight under 10,000 lbs. Over that weight your license has to change. To check, go on Ontario ministry of transportation
  • Don't know about Canada, but in the US, only 25 of the 50 states allow triple towing, and many of those have restrictions. Here's the web site if that's your intention.
  • I bought a "Pyle" camara 3 years ago on Amazon for $50.00
It works great. I wired it to a toggle in the cab so it's
on when I want it on. Works very nice except when I have my
UV sunglasses on, then it's hard to see.
