If I have a long way to go, it's hit the road by 9 & drive till 1 (I can usually last with potty breaks every 2 hours so one stop in the am). That's 200 miles & time to gas up. We eat lunch and take a 'forced' 1.5 hour break. Usually try to plan a little sightseeing side trip at this time.
Then about 2:30 hit the road again to drive until 6 or 6:30. Then we pull in for the night. This method can get us 350 or 400 miles per day, & with the long break in the middle it's not so stressful for me.
