Here we go.....

Nice! Sounds like a successful mission. There's always the unexpected on the first Couple of trips.

As for wax, I understand that any you can use for cars, you can use on the trailer. Im a fan of Mother's carnuba wax. So far it's been fine, but am interested in hearing other opinions.

Well here it is....pretty uneventful though.

The only unexpected issue was the RV shop I bought it from replaced the air suspension up front but obviously never put air in. The fills weren't mounted deep enough to get a fill nozzle on. Quick 2 minute fix and added air but the left has a slow leak so that needs a looksie. The auto AC doesn't work so we ran with the windows open. That probably just needs a charge. The holding tank levels don't read so I will do the "cleaning" method I saw on here to see if that fixes it.

I ran all but the furnace (unusualy warm up here this weekend) and everything works as it should. Surprisingly I don't seem to have an inverter so we ran the data up on the ipad watching SOAP reruns on youtube. I will add one very soon just to have it.

The only "story" I have is that when I went to dump after the first night somebody must have cycled the blackwater slide valve while it was at the dealership....that was a nasty surprise when I uncapped. I dumped again when I left to verify that it wasn't a leaky slide and it was fine.

All in all it was a successful shakedown and the dog took to it well so I do believe that we will get some use out of this beast.

One more question before we go for our shakedown...

While we are going to be hanging around I was going to wax the rig...what does everyone use for making an older rig shine up nice?

I have run most systems next to the garage already. I do plan on an LP fill and tank dump before I hit the road this weekend for the shakedown so I will know how to do it in "public"

I don't think dry camping without hookups for your first time out is a terrible idea. When we got our new rig (our 2nd one), our first two trips had electrical hookups. On Trip 3, We discovered that the front AC didn't work properly on generator power until Day 1 of a week long dry camping trip over the 4th of July with 90 degree weather. It worked fine when hooked up to shore power., We were out in the middle of nowhere with no phone service so we just suffered through it. Not fun though.

It is set now and registered. RI doesn't title pre-2001 vehicles so I have the title but it won't get transferred to me. It will be an extra piece of paper for the folder when I sell it to upgrade down the road.

I just needed the correct signature on the bill of sale. Most of this is my own fault for not checking the P-work properly before I went to the DMV

I couldn't get a nearby reservation with hookups so I will have to "fast cruise" in the driveway as well

Fishermens memorial state park has full hookups available for this weekend. Go to this link and select "spots with" and put in 30A electrical, water, sewer, and then select starting date and length of stay. Best part is, $20/night, way cheaper than commercial parks =)

Thanks for the tip...I didn't even think about fisherman's...I thought it was just a memorial. I might not even be able to pick up the unit yet anyway. The problem with consignment from a repair shop is they really are bad with p-work, they have all my money but I need a more proper bill of sale to register it.

Minor setback but a little frustrating.
