Is there a site where you can find someone to RV with?

Roaming Times used to have a forum where you could find someone (difficult to use but at least they had it) they recently renovated their site so it's beautiful to look at but they removed it (they should learn from Craigslist and Plenty of Fish, you can have a very basic site but if you give the public what they want they will come 🙂

Tried posting on travel companion/buddy type of websites but mostly people are looking for people to do exotic overseas travel and Fodors, Frommers, etc. forums aren't for RV'ers either, and Craigslist, well, responses are a little weird.

Monitors on this site, I'm thinking of putting an ad under trailers, since one is traveling in another's R.V. you feel that you are always at their behest, so I'd buy the trailer and s/he would provide the car, is that allowed? If not, can a suggestion be made that a section in the forum be made to match people who are looking for someone to RV with (if no, curious to know why.)

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Well Eva what are you looking for. Share an RV or travel in caravan?

I mean the joke I tell is that I'm taking appolications for travel companion (Not yet doing interviews) but from the looks of things I am 2-3 years from turning the key in the ignition again (Blown engine)
There is a solo rv "Sub forum" on most RV forum web sites I think.. THough frankly I do not often visit them.

*laughing* I went thru this myself - took applications and actually did some camping interviews. In fact I ordered my current RV with twin beds because some of the people I camped with I certainly didn't want to sleep with. But in the end it turned out to be an exercise in futility, so my next RV will not have twin beds. I've found meeting new people wherever I camp is preferable to having to put up with them on long trips or dealing with their sleeping and bathroom habits.

Are you looking for groups to caravan or for a partner to share your time with? Big difference. All the suggestions below are more of a caravan sort of flavor. If you want a partner who will RV with you I suggest you try a dating site and make rv'ing a prerequisite. Unless you just want a friend, then I would suggest finding a friend who likes to RV.

We have a small local RV Club that plans 4-6 events per year. They advertise once or twice a year in a free notice section in our local paper and they meet monthly for dinner to discuss upcoming events, current issues with their RVs and just to enjoy each others company. If you don't have anything like this in your area, you might just start one. JH

As Bobbo said, Good Sam chapters may be what you are looking for. We belong to a chapter and they go camping one weekend a month during the summer time. We are panning to expand this to 2 weekends a month next summer. During the winter we have meetings each month, socializing, food and an official meeting.

You may meet other members to camp with???

Given how rare that type of request or question comes up here, I suspect inviting strangers to share an RV with you is not in very high demand.

This week, in Indio, there is the Western Area FMCA rally. At it, they have a chapter fair at which you can go around and talk to different chapters and find one that has the same interests that you do. Some are 4x4, some are gold panners, some hit the casinos, others just go some where fun.

You can also look on the FMCA website.
