Just made the plunge

We always went to Algonac state park with every new RV because it was close to where we lived at the time. That is a great idea on the driveway. Been RVing since 1969 and never used the CG facilities. We used the self contained for everything. Dumping is nothing special when done properly. Dump black tank first and then the grey to flush the hose. Very simple job when done right. I always do use rubber gloves at the dump station.

thanks guys, mine seems to be pretty well taken care of although used and far from original. its had a lot of lets just call them improvised improvements but it but it works for us. the top passanger side wall has a bad spot but the water intrusion has since been corrected. I will figure out how to replace the damaged structure this off season. cant wait to get her out. if work dosent screw me over first weekend in june will be her maiden run. last weekend in may will be camp driveway

Welcome to the forum, and those old Prowlers were pretty good trailers. Biggest killer is water damage as noted above. Next in line, pull the drums and get the brakes and bearings in good shape so she rolls along safely. Other than that, everything else can be fixed or upgraded.

Consider something with sway control. The Equalizer hitch works well for us, and others sing praises on the Reese dual cam. Load distributing plus sway control will make for a pleasant towing experience.

trailer comes in between 4400 and 5000 lb depending on how its loaded (usually closer to 4500) I'm towing it with a Jeep WJ rated for 6500lb. I have limited experience towing larger trailers but thousands of miles towing popups, boats and utility trailers. I am a clean slate for WD system. I haven't purchased it yet although im looking at a basic load distributing setup off kijiji. nothing special.

Nobody has asked, so I'll put in my thoughts.

What tow vehicle are you planning to use? Do you have a weight distribution system and sway control devices? Do you have any experience pulling a travel trailer (other than your previous pop-up?

If you have never used a weight distribution unit, make sure you learn not only how to install it, but also how to adjust it once the trailer has more weight in it.

Be sure to weigh your trailer (preferably once it is loaded and ready for camping) and insure that you have 12 to 15 % of that total weight on the tongue to insure your chances of sway is diminished.

Also, can't emphasize enough about the tires not being older than 5 years old. TT tires don't wear out, they time out. So you can have lots of tread left on the tires, but if the trailer has been sitting a while and exposed to the sun, the tires could be in dire need of replacing. Typically, you won't know if the trailer has a blow out on the highway, so I also recommend getting a TPMS system.

Ok just talked to my mechanic. Trailer is going in Tuesday for brake and bearing service. Now to start getting accustomed to everything, chasing out the gremlins and getting her loaded.
