Not towing a car, Where can we go?

We bought a small 19CB Coach Freelander. We got that specific model due to our needs, and our available parking space.
Now we are looking for places to go where we do not need to have an additional car. Are there places where we can just explore right out of our RV? Or where public transportation can take us? We don't mind going to the store once in a while, but will prefer to be park at the campground and just walk around.
We are in Illinois and so far, have encountered campgrounds far removed from everything.
Maybe something like Zion National park? where we can take their awesome bus? Are there more places like it?
Thanks

I think they have nothing to "unhook" and have a 19 foot RV.

If that is true, the right answer is that they can go almost everywhere that a medium sized delivery truck can.

Which is almost everywhere.......except the center of BIG cities.

We like to explore the whole area that we stay. That means driving the secondary roads and seeing things. There is lots to see outside the major parks or attractions, too.

Actually, you have to select a place to go, even if it means throwing a dart at a map. Once you have that figured out your route and check the campgrounds you'll be staying at and find out who has shuttle service or city bus service stopping right outside the park.

There's always the option of renting a car if you do need one to sight see somewhere and don't want to break camp. Many of the car rental companies have special deals with the price of $15 to $20 per day. Some even deliver cars to your campsite.

EVERYWHERE! :C

You will be able to park that 19ft anywhere you want in a town or attractions. You will even fit into many parking spots on the street or otherwise. If there is spot you can fit into just to do it. There are no RV restrictions, if you fit park it!

I have a '31ft towing a car' and I go into towns all the time WITH the car attached! Grocery store parking lots are your friend. That's where I usually park way out on the outskirts of the lot.

I am from Illinois you need to go South to see neat things like Starve Rock, the massive sandstone structures, etc. But the drawback is Illinois is a very long state and the trip south would many hours driving.

Illinois state beach and zion in the North puts you 'near to nothing' but Chicago and you can't take the RV into Chicago. Having lived in Chicago I personally would NOT make Chicago a fun trip destination. :W

If I were you I would go just an hour North instead just over the state line into Wisconsin which offers copious spectacular CG's and attraction/destinations. Lake Geneva, Kettle Moraine etc. There's so much to see and do there and much much nicer than anything Illinois has to offer.:C

We are at Lake George Escape RV Park. They have a shuttle that goes to Lake George, NY.

Cherry Hill Campground in College Park, MD has a bus that will take you to metro to visit DC.

James Island County Park has a shuttle to various points in Charleston, SC.

Traveler's World in San Antonio is right next to the Riverwalk. You can walk or bike down to the city center (5 miles or so). There is also a bus right outside the entrance.

Those are off the top of my head...

we have a 25-footer that has been to every state but one (Guess?) and lots of Canada. No toad has ever been used. You just drive to where you need to go and look for a large parking space. If there are tours, then you can use them.

Don't worry -- you'll get everywhere you want, including rides on Alaska ferries at the regular car rate due to the short length of your RV.
