- The_Painting_TeExplorerWe have found the PA campgrounds 1) definitely good enough for an overnight stop 2) not good enough for a destination stop 3) pays for itself with 2 - 3 uses, and then you save money for any additional use.
- dave54NomadPPA parks tend to be single overnight stops enroute. Not too many near the premier destinations. You have to really plan your itinerary carefully to make it pay. But if you do it is a great bargain.
- phillygExplorer IIPPA can easily pay for itself within a handful of uses. But, you have to look closely at the limitations at each CG you choose. For example, in FL many don't accept PPA Nov thru Mar, and in the NE it's similar but Jun-Sep. Some tack on $4 per day per person for a "resort" fee. Some only accept cash. Some limit your stay to 1, 2 or 3 nites. Still, we're going to get one as soon as we next hit the road.
- KrowNBExplorerDouble post. Sorry.
- KrowNBExplorerWhen we travelled across the continent and back in 2015 I estimate we saved about $200 or more. We were "flying by the seat of our pants" mid Aug to mid Oct. From 1 Sep on we found less PA restrictions. Around noon each day we'd determine where we wanted to be around 3 or 4 and then the first directory we checked would be PA. If there was a PA GC near our stop we'd call ahead and book it. We would prefer PA over a Walmart but if no PA were convenient and we had to pay $40 just to sleep, we'd find a Sams or WM. We stayed at some really nice parks for $15 or $20/night.
- catkinsExplorer IILots of restrictions on availability but we always save enough to save over the course of a year. Two nights used makes up for the annual fee and after that, the savings begin.
- AllworthExplorer IILast year on a trip to California and back we saved $142 on a $39 membership in just seven weeks.
- qtla9111NomadWe bought it for our trip through the U.S. and Canada. We are boondockers but not knowing the areas we were traveling we thought it was a good idea.
In Canada it never worked for us. The western U.S. it came in handy but because we were out west there were so many boondocking options we preferred those.
We have friends who are hardcore rv park people and they find it very useful. Read the restrictions for each campground thoroughly. - junmy3ExplorerWe find it worthwhile, but we also travel 3-4 months of the year. One destination place that we have found that has several PA parks is Branson, MO. Definitely saved us money the two times that we were there.
- Dutch_12078Explorer IIAs others have said, our PA membership more than pays for itself.
