So I am on the verge of purchasing a new (my first new after two used RV's) Denali 261BH. Negotiated price down, and financing is being worked out, when I get a call from the dealer telling me that I need to buy a battery and propane tanks.So my first question is, are these things typically "add-ons" or are they usually included, and secondly,if I plan on parking at my seasonal site, which has 30amp 110v, do I need to even have a battery?I do not plan on moving the RV from my site in the near future. Any words of wisdom are appreciated.

Battery and tanks should be included, along with a starter kit with a bunch of junk to get you started. I'd still get the battery even if you don't need it.

Not knowing much about your unit I would assume that lights and most thing on it will operate on 12v. Almost every RV runs a lot of stuff on 12V. You need batteries for that. I don’t think I have ever seen an RV where lights etc run on 110 and nothing on 12V. Plugging in only charges the batteries, but you still need batteries. As far as LP, if you plan on cooking or running the furnace or water heater(unless it has no stove – or an electric furnace) you will need LP. I think that unit has an external stovetop – again requires LP. That said I would think these items are included. If not certainly negotiable.

Occasionally I hear about a dealer who doesn't include these things in the negotiated price. But I think that's the exception. My dealer included those things. The 12 volt things in the unit run off the power convertor and work fine when there is no battery hooked up. However, even if you only use shore power and never boondock, you still need the battery for the breakaway cable (the trailer's emergency brakes).

I would say- Sorry, not paying extra for those items which should be standard. I seriously doubt they would cancel the deal.

3 trailers, and they all included a battery and FULL propane tanks.

1 popup and 3 new trailers over the years. It never even came up. Propane tanks (2) and batts were always there when we picked up the rigs.

Your dealer is fishing (out of season).

Never purchased an RV that didn't come with propane cylinders (tanks are permanently mounted in MHs etc.) and at least 1 battery.

Yes..modern converters can function/operate ALL 12V DC items without a battery but best to have a battery for:
*12V DC power to trailer brakes should 'emergency brake cable/pin' get pulled (illegal to tow without properly equipped)
*Battery helps provide 'load buffer' for converter

"Hey dealer.......2 propane cylinders FULL and 1 battery"

You though you negotiated a good price. If you don't have a battery your break away won't but on the brakes and the law says you need that most everywhere.

Interesting that they would even go there. I looked at the Denali website link and when I click on the appliances tab it lists 30 lb bottles (plural) with abs cover.
I would tell them that you expect the bottles filled and a battery be provided so the emergency breakaway switch works and you're not going to pay anything extra.
