Purchasing a new RV

So I am on the verge of purchasing a new (my first new after two used RV's) Denali 261BH. Negotiated price down, and financing is being worked out, when I get a call from the dealer telling me that I need to buy a battery and propane tanks.

So my first question is, are these things typically "add-ons" or are they usually included, and secondly,if I plan on parking at my seasonal site, which has 30amp 110v, do I need to even have a battery?

I do not plan on moving the RV from my site in the near future.

Any words of wisdom are appreciated.

1 popup and 3 new trailers over the years. It never even came up. Propane tanks (2) and batts were always there when we picked up the rigs.

Your dealer is fishing (out of season).

3 trailers, and they all included a battery and FULL propane tanks.

I would say- Sorry, not paying extra for those items which should be standard. I seriously doubt they would cancel the deal.

Occasionally I hear about a dealer who doesn't include these things in the negotiated price. But I think that's the exception. My dealer included those things.

The 12 volt things in the unit run off the power convertor and work fine when there is no battery hooked up. However, even if you only use shore power and never boondock, you still need the battery for the breakaway cable (the trailer's emergency brakes).

Not knowing much about your unit I would assume that lights and most thing on it will operate on 12v. Almost every RV runs a lot of stuff on 12V. You need batteries for that. I don’t think I have ever seen an RV where lights etc run on 110 and nothing on 12V. Plugging in only charges the batteries, but you still need batteries. As far as LP, if you plan on cooking or running the furnace or water heater(unless it has no stove – or an electric furnace) you will need LP. I think that unit has an external stovetop – again requires LP. That said I would think these items are included. If not certainly negotiable.

Battery and tanks should be included, along with a starter kit with a bunch of junk to get you started. I'd still get the battery even if you don't need it.
