- cochise49ExplorerGood Sam uses National General. Don't think the use anyone else presently. Only problem we had with them was a major claim just as GS was moving from GMAC to Nat. Gen..Some confusion prevailed and it took 6 weeks to get approval for repairs. Add that to the 18 weeks it took for the parts to be fabricated (compartment doors and it was almost 6 months before we had our rig back.I like the idea of RV specific policies. However, I think most companies now offer that. I especially like the "Gap" insurance for a financed new rig. Though it would take a lot of damage to total a unit. That or an unrecovered theft.
- wbwoodExplorerSome misconceptions here. Good Sam Insurance is a brokerage. They can write through various companies. They will initially go through National General (formerly GMAC). We went through Good Sam back in 2010 when we bought our TT and go our insurance with Allied (Nationwide company). Have been pleased with them. Have even insured our golf cart through them. Last year when we traded up to the Class C, we called to get insurance on it through Good Sam and they initially quoted us through National General. We asked them to quote us through Allied. They did, and it was half the price of National General. They have our Class C valued at $70,000 and we have a $500 deductible (I believe). Our rate is less than $500/year. We are happy with it. National General quote was over $900/year.
- rockhillmanorExplorer IIJust make sure to read the entire contract before signing.
Many great low rates if you switch are 'only good for one year'.
And it will state that buried in the contract in fine print. - past-MIdirectorExplorerWe're Good Sam Insurance for over 10 years which is NG now. Over the time we've had a couple of small claims on one MH and vehicles with no problems and fast service. We are now full timing and towing a toad. The DW talked with them over the phone for what we needed for full time coverage and they applied the needed coverage. There's a lot of things most people don't know they need for coverage. One we didn't know was to fully cover the toad when being towed was full coverage on the toad was needed. We've been very happy with the service and professionalism of there agents over the years.
- WyoTravelerExplorerI have National General through GS. They have changed their name a couple of times. No major claims just glass breakage etc. I like them and have stayed with them since 1986. Never had any problems with glass breakage claims. Sometimes I find I have to ask for a supervisor. Especially if buying a different RV. The common employee that answers the phone just can't seem to get it right. In the end they always make it right. I problem is whenever I change vehicles or RVs they seem to want to charge me a new policy fee. Like I am a new customer. Supervisor always has made it right or reimbursed the extra fee.
- cpaulsenExplorerI went thru GS when going full-time. I had Allstate but they will not insure a full-timer. Used national general thru GS and ended up saving money with them.
- Scott_85ExplorerI'm happy with geico, I get roadside service and they gave me insurance on my 5er hitch.
