Short clothes hangers

Our new RV has the full size queen bed which slides in under the closets. This of course results in short closets. The ‘pole’ in the closet is not the normal round kind. It is basically an L shaped piece of metal with holes in it for the hangers to go through, a valet hanger system. The distance from the bottom of the ‘pole’ to the floor of the cabinet is only 41” and only 31” where the TV is mounted.

Normal hangers have a long neck with a large round hook to go over the standard round pole and a shirt will hang about 4 inches under the top of that poll. There is less than half an inch of metal under the hole in the ‘pole’ that I have.

Does anyone know where they sell hangers designed for this type of closet ‘pole’?

I had the same problem with a short closet when I had my trailer. I bought a couple of packs of these from Camping World. They have a real short neck compared to an ordinary hanger and they stay on the pole.

"JaxDad" has the best idea. Take a wooden hangar and cut off the metal hook and add one of these "J" hook

You can buy them at Home Depot and make up a dozen hangars in 30 minutes.

I found these... they are more rounded than most hangers and might work. rounded shoulder-swivel hangers

Hubby likes hangers... I don't. I have my items rolled up and stored in plastic collapsible ziplock cubes...that stack.

have you thought about using something like this? Hanging shelves

We have the same problem and are searching for a solution. Ours has the regular round bar. The closet is not really useable for hanging clothes because it is too short. I use a bar in the shower but have to move the cloths each time the shower is used.

A pair of pliers and some effort can re-shape a standard wire hanger.

Or just be under 5'8" tall......

As far as I know, there is no special hanger. They utilize the same hangers as the rods.

Maybe get some of the wooden hangers that use a steel swivel hook. Remove the 4" steel swivel hook with a much smaller open screw eye.

That or use the steel wire hangars from the dry cleaners and bend the hook to the size and length you want.
